Dunston don't take chances again....

Dunston travelled the short distance down the A1 to play Chester le Street in their EBAC Northern League Division 1 game, Dunston would be hoping to fair better than their midweek defeat to Washington with the return of Burrell and Richardson returning to the side but were without the injured top scorer Scott Heslop.

Dunston stared well and in the first minute, Byrne tried a 30 yard volley going just wide of the far post. On 6 Thear dribbled into the box and shot from 12 yards which Wilson saved. On 12 Thear put in a cross come shot from the left which went over the bar, two minutes later Richardson fired a 30 yard shot over the bar. On 17 Slaughter fired in a cross from the left White deflected away for a corner. Errors started to creep into Dunston's game which gave Chester the impetus to push on. After 21 Norton had punch clear a Chester free kick and 3 minutes later Honour fed McGrain who shot from 18 yards went over the bar.

On 30 Thear fed Burrell into the box and his shot from 10 yards was deflected for a corner. From the corner taken by Pearson it was the tall frame of Capewell whose to head home from 4 yards, Chester replied with a free kick which went over the bar, On 34, dangerous Thear cross was headed clear by Dan Hepplewhite, the corner again by Pearson found Capewell at the back post but this time he was unable to direct his header on target. On 35, Burrell had a shot from 15 yards go wide of the near post. On 39, Halliday running back towards goal headed the ball unintentionally onto his arm just outside the box, the ref awarded a free kick which White fired fiercely past the wall and the stranded Norton on his goal line for the equaliser.

Half Time score Chester le Street 1 Dunston 1

Dunston tried to recover their composure in the second half but the errors were still occurring, on 55, Thear dibed into the box only for his cross to be too long, but Chester replied on 58 as Norton had to stop an Honour header. On 61, Drane had two attempts to cross into the danger area but both were blocked. A minute later Burrell had a shot on target deflected than stopped before Lathan had a shot go over the bar for Chester. On 69, Byrne layer off to Slaughter who shot over from the edge of the box. Dunston should have retaken the lead on 77 as Thear dribbled into the box and was fouled, Thear took the kick and Wilson diving to right saved low down and another chance went begging.

On 79, Honour fired a 25 yard shot over the bar before Byrne got into the box but shot over the bar from 15 yards. Disaster again struck on 86 as McGrain out on the right wing fired in a shot that Holden on for
Norton, got a slight hand too but did not deflect it away from the goal and Chester lead 2-1. Dunston had one further chance on 87 as Thear shot over from 25 yards out but had nothing left to prevent the Chester le Street win.

Final Score Chester le Street 2 Dunston 1

In summary once again Dunston did not take their opportunities to bury the opposition side, whilst Chester
were game and wanted to win and in the end scored the winner after being under the cost for most of the
game.

Dunston Man of the match: hard to pick but Liam Thear was trying hard and did create chances, but he was also unable to convert the penalty kick which would have made a huge difference. Lots of errors and missed chances throughout the team.
